Sub-state was on Tuesday, February 13th. The boys, yet again, have qualified for State. That's four years in a row now. Ray Wiegand got first place for the 3A districts individuals. He shot a 569 series to tie the school record. The boys qualified with a  total of 3,372 pins. The boys had four of the top five scores for the individual round.

Kamrin Chizek placed second with a 488. Jonathan McKeever placed fourth with a 434 series. With a 427, Joshua Arment placed fifth. Richie Thomas had shot a 369 series, while Lucas Kramer shot a 338.

The bakers games went magnificently as always. There was only one game that was below a 200 score. That was due to the boys really truly focusing on the girls team qualifying for state. The boys are currently 16-0, but from the sounds of it a 17-0 is in their future.

Now to the girls. The energy on this team is always booming. One of the girls that was truly pumped and full of energy was Karlie Potter. She continued to tell everyone before and during the meet how pumped she was.

That energy soon paid off. Karlie got first place like Ray did for the 3A districts individuals. She shot her best series in her high school career that day, a 477. It was the best series in the district for girls and also the best in the 3A class.

When asked if she knew she'd make it, she told Times Republican, "I was ready for it, I promised my bowling coach [Roger Taylor] that I was going to make it to state for him because he has known me since I was little, so I wanted to try and make that promise and keep it and make it to state, and then I did."

The girls ended up in third overall, so close to making it to state. Many tears were shed by the girls team, because they get to see their teammate go to state and because of how close they were to making it as a team. The team had a score of 2,477.

Following Karlie's 477 was Haley Bell with a 325 which put her in 10th place. Ashly Wiegand shot a 316. Kylee Witt had a 290. A 267 series for Ali Olinger and a 245 series for ShayeLyn Pickett.

The boys and Karlie Potter will be bowling at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo on Wednesday, February 21st. Come support the bobcats, you can order tickets to State by clicking on the "GET STATE TICKETS NOW!" button below.
